Tatiana is a former Sydney belly dancer and teacher who has moved to the Byron Shire.
Tatiana is a busy performer, dancing anywhere from Byron to the Gold Coast! I particularly like her baby shower package, “Birthing Ways“, which teaches belly dance moves for pregnancy while still being a fun entertainment for the mum-to-be and her guests.
Here she is (in green) dancing with Jacinta:
Interview with bellydancer Tatiana
1. How did you get started with belly dancing?
I fell in love with Oriental dance after watching a beautiful bellydancer performing in a restaurant.I was totally mesmerised by the way she could tell a story through movement, and how her passion and love of the dance just touched every person in the room. From that day forth I set out to find a teacher, however it was really difficult to find a teacher over 14 years ago but I was fortunate to find a class with Helen Fisher.
2. What is your favourite belly dancing style and/or prop?
I love all styles of bellydance but if I have to choose I guess I would have to say Classical Egyptian.
3. Who or what has had the greatest influence on your belly dance style?
A number of dancers, but I feel Terezka Drnzik definitely has been a great influence. With her passion and knowledge culturally as well as bringing awareness to the spiritual aspect of the dance, along side attention to technical detail.I would also like to add the dancer’s of the 50’s.
4. What advice would you offer an aspiring belly dancer?
Never stop learning keep forever growing , explore all different styles of dance , have a dance mentor and most of all- passion , LOVE what you do.
